Tournament rules

  • Better Ball Pairs, Stableford Format
    It is an 18-hole Stableford competition. The playing handicap is 85% after slope adjustment, with a maximum handicap index of 28 for men and 36 for women.
  • The event is played according to the Rules of Golf, as established by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, along with any additional local rules of the golf club.
  • All decisions regarding the rules will be made by the tournament organization and IGC. Their decision is final.

Participation Requirements

  • Participants must be at least 18 years old on or before the start date of the World Finals.
  • During the Dutch Qualifier, all competition players must hold an NGF card with a maximum handicap of 36. If this is not the case, please contact us in advance.
  • To qualify for the World Finals, participants must have a valid and up-to-date handicap certificate.

Equipment

  • Distance measuring devices and GPS devices are allowed throughout the entire tournament, including the World Finals.
  • During the Dutch Qualifier, participants must dress according to the dress code of the Duke

In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined using the following method:

  • Countback on the last 9, 6, 3, 2, and last hole of the course (regardless of the order played).
  • If still tied, the countback will then consider the last 6, 3, 2, and last holes of the first 9 holes.
  • If the tie persists, a sudden death play-off will take place, using Stableford scores.

World finals The Duke Of Edinburgh Cup 2025

The winner of the Dutch Qualifier will be invited to the two-day Duke of Edinburgh Cup 2025 at Windsor Castle, England. This invitation includes:

  • Participation in the two-day Duke of Edinburgh Cup
  • Round one at Wentworth, followed by lunch
  • Round two at Burhill, followed by lunch
  • Five nights of hotel accommodation
  • Invitation to play at the Royal Household Golf Club at Windsor Castle
  • Royal dinner and awards ceremony at Windsor Castle, attended by a senior member of the royal family

A partner/guest is welcome to accompany the qualifiers and share the hotel room. However, costs for golf, meals, and other expenses are at the partner/guest’s own expense.
